45 minute - 1 hour massage, using a range of swedish massage techniques, combined stretches and enhanced mobilisations tailored to suit the needs of your dog.
Kinesiology taping is a treatment using a special adhesive elastic tape that is stretched when applied to the skin/fur. As the tape tries to recoil it lifts the skin and underlying soft tissue, creating space between layers and taking pressure off muscles, joints, tendons and nerves. The tape would normally be applied at the end of a massage session, and would stay on for 3-5 days.
Acupressure is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves applying pressure on certain points along the meridians of the body to treat symptoms like pain, nausea or anxiety. Combined with using specific high frequency essential oils, this can be a very effective treatment that you can continue to give your dog at home.
Your first appointment with your dog is very important. We will go through any relevant medical history and talk about the current issues your dog has or has had in the past.
We will look at the way your dog is moving. I always find a video helpful, where we can watch together in slow motion and I can show you any abnormalities in your dog's movement and where he or she may be compensating.
We will also look at the way your dog sits and stands. This can be a good indicator of painful areas.
I will carry out a full body palpation to identify any stress points on your dog. This can be seen by a twitch or flinch reaction and is often caused by excessive use of muscle groups and can affect mobility and agility.
I will carefully assess each of your dogs joints for range of motion and identify any soreness or stiffness.
I will spend 45 minutes to 1 hour massaging your dog, using a range of swedish massage techniques, along with combined stretches and mobilisations tailored to suit the needs of your dog.
Kinesiology taping is a technique using the application of a special adhesive elastic tape to relieve pain from muscles, joints and tendons, stabilise, bring awareness to weak areas or to reduce inflammation through lymphatic drainage.
Various configurations of the tape can be used for different effects. The tape is applied at different rates of stretch and when it recoils, it lifts the skin/fur and underlying layers of soft tissue, taking pressure off the area.
We would aim to keep the tape on for at least 2 days, and up to 5. This would be applied at the end of an assessment and massage so we can see where it would be most effective. Results can be seen almost immediately and the effects can continue for weeks following removal.
If you are interested in adding kinesiology taping onto your dog's massage there is an additional charge of £10. Please let me know when you send an enquiry.
Acupressure is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique that enhances energy flow throughout the body using the meridian pathways, with an aim to rebalance the body. Essential oils hold a specific vibrational frequency that, when chosen correctly according to their therapeutic actions, can have a synergistic effect with an acupoint which triggers energetic changes to bring the body into a state of balance.
Please enquire about this service. It can be an add-on to your dog's massage, or a package. You will be supplied with a tailor-made chart with the specifically selected points and essential oils that will benefit your dog according to their imbalances.
