VETERINARY CONSENT

Why does your vet need to know?

It is necessary under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, to gain consent from your vet to carry out massage therapy with your dog. This is to ensure that the animal being treated is in good health and that we are made aware of any previous/current conditions or injuries and can treat them appropriately.

For your convenience, a Veterinary Consent form is available for you to download and print below. Veterinary consent must be gained before a massage session can be booked.

Zen Dog works in compliance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and Exemptions Order 2015, by never working on an animal without Veterinary consent. As stated by the RCVS, 'Physiotherapy' is interpreted as including all kinds of manipulative therapy (Section 19.21), thus including massage therapy. Manipulation under massage therapy is limited to (or refers to) soft tissue and testing a joints' range of motion. Please note that I do not manipulate joints or the skeleton as part of my work, and concentrate purely on the application of safe, structured massage techniques.
